Touvier, Vichy et le crime contre l'humanité : le dossier de l'accusation
Presents the file on the case of Paul Touvier, the first French citizen to stand trial for crimes against humanity. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in April 1994, over twenty years after the case was first opened. The book contains a summary of the history of the case, press releases, pleas by the defense and indictments by the prosecution, testimony and judgment. The first section (pp. 11-91) is comprised of essays: an introduction by Bédarida (pp. 11-43) giving the historical background of the case, accounts by two journalists - Gilles Smadja and Laurent Greilsamer - who covered the trials (pp. 45-74, 75-81), and a chronology from 1973-95. The second section (pp. 93-226) is a selection of pleas by eight lawyers for the prosecution. The third section (pp. 227-282) gives the indictment of 18 April 1994 by the Attorney General, Hubert de Touzalin. The final section (pp. 283-363) includes documents in two parts: one concerning events between 1942-44, the other regarding legal issues. Includes bibliographical references (pages 365-366) and index. 375 pages ; 25 cm
