Und flehentlich gesegnet : Briefe der Familie Wildmann aus Rivesaltes und Perpignan : jüdische Schicksale aus Philippsburg 1941-1943
Presents the correspondence of various members of the German Jewish family Wildmann during their internment in camps in southern France between November 1941-November 1943. Manfred Wildmann (b. 1930), his parents, grandparents, two sisters, and a brother were deported from Philippsburg, Germany to Gurs in October 1940 and then to Rivesaltes in March 1941. The correspondence began when one of his sisters left Rivesaltes, in November 1941, to work in a home for children run by the Red Cross in Pringy, Haute Savoie; it ended when his father, Heinrich, was deported from the hospital in Perpignan to Auschwitz in 1943. Wildmann's mother and brother had already been deported in August 1942, via Drancy to Auschwitz. Only Manfred and his sisters survived (he was in the Red Cross home where his sister worked). In 1947 they emigrated to the USA. 1. Aufl. 204 pages : illustrations, maps ; 21 cm
