Comptes d'une mort annoncée : les spoliations des juifs en Belgique
Desribes the mechanism of despoilment of the over 25,000 Jew ofBelgium, a process which was even more insidious and complex than elsewhere. The Germans lacked sufficient strenght to rule the country and to rely on local collaboration. Belgian commissionaries and General secretaries were appointed as heads of ministeries and measures had to be conceived to prevent the despoilment from appearing as an act of barbarianism in the eyes of the people. The upper crust of Belgian Jewry had left before the occupation and managed to recuperate a part of their property which was appropriated after their departure. Small Jewish artisans, shopkeepers and workers on the other hand lost everything. The despopilment was managed by the so called Gruppe XII, which was part of the Economic Department. End of 1940. aryanization is commended by ordonnance. and the gains are to be used for the benefit of the german war affort.
