Als die Juden nach Deutschland flohen : ein vergessenes Kapitel der Nachkriegsgeschichte

2017

Germany after 1945 - Jewish life in the land of perpetrators. Over a quarter of million of East European Jews, the most from Poland, were stranded in the post-war years in West Germany. The new anti-Semitism had driven them out of their old homeland; Within the land of their tormentors and murderers, they took their place under the care of the victorious powers of the west, especially the Americans. Germany should only be transit, on the way to Palestine or the USA. However, it continued, and therefore the Jewish refugees remained foreigners in the camps for some time and the old-fashioned life of Eastern Europe began to unfold. They (the Germans) mostly met with them with disapproval and rejection. This book traces the political lines of today's largely forgotten epoch, but also explains them by the description of many individual fates. 1. Auflage. 346 pages, 8 unnumbered pages of plates : illustrations ; 22 cm
