In November 1963, a branch of the State Archive of the Brest Region in Baranovichi was established, based on several regional archives and on the Municipal Archive of Baranovichi. In September 1996, the Archive was organized into the Local State Archive in Baranovichi and, as of 22 May 2001, its name was changed to: "The Scientific-Methodologic Documentation Institution of the Local State Archive in Baranovichi".
