Documentation of the Verband der österreichen Zionisten (League of Austrian Zionists) in Vienna, 1936-1937

Documentation of the Verband der österreichen Zionisten (League of Austrian Zionists) in Vienna, 1936-1937

The collection includes publicity (placards and leaflets) and correspondence of the Verband der österreichen Zionisten, which was the Austrian branch of the Revisionist Movement, and of accompanying organizations, such as the Brit HaKanaim Youth Federation; the correspondence was with the Austrian authorities, the Jewish community in Vienna and with Jewish and Zionist organizations. Among other items in the collection, there is correspondence with the police regarding permission to hold League meetings and activities.

The main body of material consists of publicity and reports of Zionist organizations, mainly Zionist youth movements from outside of Austria (Germany and Denmark) as well, starting in 1915, as well as editions of Jewish Austrian newspapers and documentation of other Jewish organizations in Austria, such as the Scouts.

Also in the collection: documentation of Jewish organizations in Graz, such as the Frauenverein (Jewish Women's Association) and the Chevra Kadisha (burial society). The material includes, among other items, protocols of meetings and membership lists. It is possible that this documentation was attached to the collection by accident, and it belongs with the Historische Komission des Reichsfurers SS Himmler, Berlin collection (which was assigned the signature Fond 701 in the Osoby Archive), that includes material pertaining to Jewish organizations in Graz.
