M.54.AMS - Documentation of the Stutthof Concentration Camp Museum in Sztutowo, Poland
 
 The Stutthof concentration camp was established shortly after the German occupation of Poland in September 1939, near the town of Sztutowo, Poland, approximately 40 kilometers from the city of Gdansk. During the war approximately 110,000 people were detained in the camp. Gas chambers and crematoria were built in the camp in 1943. The camp was included in the plan for the Final Solution in June 1944. Large deportations of Jews (mainly women) arrived in 1944, who were transferred from the Baltic countries and from Auschwitz camp. They underwent selection and some were sent to the gas chambers. Approximately 50,000 Jews arrived to Stutthof camp, and most of them perished;
 
 With the approach of the Red Army, the camp was evacuated during the months of January-April 1945. The camp was liberated by the Red Army on 09/05/1945. Over 85,000 inmates perished in Stutthof camp during the period of its activity;
 
 Included in the collection is personal documentation and card files of inmates from various countries and nationalities; orders and instructions of the camp's commander; pamphlets of the camp; correspondence with the SS authorities; editions of the "Heeresverordnungsblatt" newspaper; personal documents and lists of the SS-Totenkopfsturmbann men; instructions regarding the draft of German inmates to the "Sonderkommando Dirlewanger"; special instructions regarding the evacuation of the camp in January 1945; administrative documentation of the department concerning the camp's inmates; announcement regarding the transfer of inmates from other camps to the Stutthof concentration camp; documentation regarding the deportation of Jewish inmates from Riga, Auschwitz and Plaszow camp to the Stutthof concentration camp, including transport lists from 1944; card files of inmates and their registration books; correspondence regarding the transfer of 500 female inmates to Hannover, to the Neuengamme concentration camp in 1944; list of Jewish female inmates who were transferred to Stutthof camp; registration of inmates in various labor battalions; work cards of inmates, and exit certificates from the camp; documentation regarding transfers of inmates; documentation regarding the punishment of inmates for various offenses; individual death certificates and group death certificates of Jewish female inmates; correspondence regarding the property of Jewish inmates, and the supply of clothing and food to sub-camps; documentation regarding inmates who died; lists of female inmates including their medical history and diagnosis, and a card file of sick inmates.
