Documentation of the Finanzministerium (Finance Ministry), related to Württemberg-Hohenzollern, 1945-1949

 History of the organization [institution]:

 In autumn 1945, after the end of World War II, the State of Württemberg-Hohenzollern was established inside Germany, which included the French Occupied Zone of Württemberg and the Sigmaringen region. The government of the new state was comprised of six Landesdirektionen (administrative areas) that supervised various subjects (law, culture, interior matters, and other subjects), including finance. Its name was changed later to the Finanzministerium (Finance Ministry);

 The Hauptzollämter (Head customs offices) were also subjugated to this office. On the regional levels, this office included units of the local offices of the Finanzämter (Finance Ministry), the Requisitionsämter (Requisitions office), customs offices, the Vermögenskontrolle (Property Supervision) offices and the Bezirksbauämter (Regional Construction) offices. The construction offices of the French Army were also subjugated to this office;

 Following a referendum, the State of Baden-Württemberg was established and it included Württemberg-Hohenzollern within its area. The temporary government of the new state was established on 25/04/1952. A special law, which cancelled all previous government institutions, went into effect as of 15/05/1952, and as of that date, the new state included Württemberg-Hohenzollern and it transferred its authorities to the government institutions of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
