Documentation of the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture from 1939-1944, regarding the confiscation of Jewish owned land in various villages and towns in Hungary
 
 The files in this collection were created in the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture from 1938-1944. The original documents are now located in the Magyar Országos Levéltár (Hungarian National Archives) where they were copied for Yad Vashem.
 
 The Ministry of Agriculture files are arranged according to the towns in Hungary and include the official documents which were accumulated as a result of the promulgation of the laws against the Jews from 1939-1944.
 
 The collection includes documentation regarding matters of real-estate property owned by Jews; the paperwork which resulted from the Second Jewish Law (1939), and the act which required Jews to register their property in local offices on special forms designated for this purpose; the procedures which were instituted as a result of the Third Jewish Law (1941), which specified who was considered a Jew; and as a result of the preparation of the law which was enacted in 1942 regarding Jewish agricultural property and the act which guided the government offices, particularly the Ministry of Agriculture which was responsible for implementing the objective. 
 
 The objective was to revoke Jews' ownership of estates and land in a systematic and orderly fashion.
 
 From the documentation in the files it is possible to derive information regarding families and their property, towns and villages, the relationship between Jews and non-Jews in various places throughout Hungary. The files document the process of confiscating Jewish owned property, which occurred in a sophisticated and systematic fashion.
 
 The files include:
 1. Applications by local residents and organizations to transfer confiscated Jewish owned land to their ownership.
 2. Applications of Jews to revoke the confiscation of land in their ownership
 3. Applications of Jews to modify the confiscation terms regarding their land
 4. Reports prepared by the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture regarding the condition of Jewish owned land
 5. Various ownership documents regarding Jewish owned land
 6. Decisions by the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture regarding the confiscation of Jewish owned land
