 Erich August Paul Puttkammer was born in Poland in 1891; he received Dutch citizenship in 1939 and worked as a lawyer in a bank in Amsterdam during the war; using his contacts with the Devisenschutzkommando, along with the use of gold, diamonds, paintings and jewelry, he obtained deportation exemptions for Jews, of whom most were already in Westerbork camp as inmates; Puttkammer was arrested after the war, but was released due to lack of evidence;

A. P. Puttkammer by Jews in the Netherlands, in order that their property will not be confiscated, and correspondence after the end of the war regarding compensation for confiscated Jewish property, 1943-1953.
