Tiraspol Town Hall

Chişinău, 2012: 49 Public access, no restrictions on access During World War II, territories on the left bank of the Dniester river were incorporated into the governorship of Transnistria, established on August 19, 1941, by a decree of the High Command of the Romanian Forces. The Transnistrian governorate was divided into 13 counties and 464 districts. Left-bank Moldova became part of 3 counties: Rîbniţa, Dubăsari, and Tiraspol. Administrative units were counties, districts, and communes. The lowest administrative unit was the commune. Administrative management of the communes was carried out by the mayors. The mayor performed his duties with the help of the small apparatus. Tiraspol City Hall and its divisions were in charge of trade, industry, health, finance, economics, and transport in Tiraspol. The city halls were liquidated in 1944 The inventory contains the following documents divided into the sections: Administration Department (orders of the Transnistrian Governorate; correspondence on administrative and economic issues; decree of the city hall regarding the establishment of a market tax for Tiraspol; lists of the city hall officials and other state institutions; copies of identity cards of the city residents; inventory of the city hall property; requests by the city residents to issue them passes on the right to leave Tiraspol; lists of athletes living in Tiraspol; acts of establishing the death of patients in civilian hospitals; the order of the Bessarabian Governor on the rules for relocation of residents of Bessarabia to Romania; acts on the capitalization of abandoned property by the city authorities; annual reports; lists of Tiraspol bakeries and pastry shops owners; lists of employees of German military units; requests submitted by residents to issue them food; requests from private traders for permission to open restaurants, buffets, factories and workshops). Economic Department. Agricultural Department (orders on the appointment of officials). Education Department (school reports). Technical Department (correspondence on the restoration of power plants, correspondence on economic issues). Military department (order of the Romanian military command on the registration of Komsomol members; personal files; death certificates and schemes of the places where prisoners of war kept in the Tiraspol camps were buried). Sanitary Department (orders about the organization of health care). Tax Department (list of residents of the city; subject to various taxes; list of entrepreneurs and merchants of the city and their statements about their income for taxation). Financial Department (accounting documents; lists of merchants and handicraftsmen), etc. Restrictions on use. Fair use only. Use only for scientific purposes (not for commercial use)
