Chişinău, 2012: 59 Two police institutions were created in the city of Cahul: the Cahul City Police and the Brigade of Siguranța (Secret Police). The Police Headquarters Cahul were divided into two sections - the Administrative Section (with administrative functions) and the Siguranța Section (securing state security). Fulfilling its administrative functions, the Cahul Police Headquarters subordinated to the prefecture of the county, and in the case of special police functions it subordinated to the Regional Police Inspectorate of Chisinau. The Cahul City Police Station has been operating since 1918 until 1944 with an interruption between June 28, 1940 and July 1941. The fond contains documents that reflect the activity of Cahul City Police in between 1933-1944; the lists of Jews in prisons on July 22, 1941; correspondence with the Regional Police Inspectorate in Chisinau regarding the legal status of the Jews; the lists of Jews who emigrated to Palestine and those who converted to Christianity.
