Barbie Trial -- Day 11 -- Witnesses testify

Jérôme Scorin continues his testimony before the Court. He describes his transfers from Montluc, Drancy, and ultimately Auschwitz-Birkenau. He then discusses his experience at Auschwitz-Birkenau, including forced labor, sickness, and persecution. He was subsequently moved to Stutthof, to a camp near Stuttgart, to Ohrdruf Le Revier, and then to Buchenwald before being marched away from the encroaching Allied front on foot before being liberated by American troops. 18:35:01 The President asks Scorin to describe how he recognized Klaus Barbie. Scorin replies that he recognized Barbie on television when he saw the report that Barbie had been extradited from Bolivia. 18:37:50 Scorin's testimony ends. The President introduces the next witness, M. Aimé Petit. Petit's father, Marcel Petit, participated in resistance activities in France during World War II. Petit describes his father, his first meeting with Barbie, his father's arrest, his second meeting with Barbie, and the deportation of his father. Petit's father was tortured by Barbie. M. Rappaport, attorney for the prosecution, asks Petit to describe in detail the arrest of his father by Barbie. M. Rigal, attorney for the prosecution, questions Petit on his arrest in company of M. Henri Bailly. 18:51:00 The President suspends the session at the conclusion of Petit's testimony.
