Star of David patch of the type worn to identify a Jew in German occupied France. Germany occupied France in the early summer of 1940. A decree was issued on March 27, 1942, making it mandatory for Jews to wear the Judenstern badges at all times. The badges marked the Jews as outsiders and made them easy to identify. The German occupation of France ended on August 25, 1944, when German forces surrendered to the Allies. No restrictions on access
