Alexander Kipnis papers
Russian-born operatic bass (1891-1978), who was active in Germany from 1915-1935 (Berlin Staatsoper, Wiesbaden Opera, Hamburg Opera), in Austria from 1935-1938, and the United States (Chicago Civic Opera, Metropolitan Opera) until his retirement from the stage in 1951. Two letters from Kipnis, sent to composer Max Wolff, in London, October 1938; plus one concert program from a performance by Kipnis at the Synagogengemeinde Düsseldorf, March 1935.
