Walter Furman papers
Walter Michael Furman was born in 1924 in the United States. During World War II, he served with the United States military forces in Europe, and in 1945, traveled through Germany as a soldier, making stops at Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps. Mr. Furman died in 2010 in Arizona. The Walter Furman papers comprised documents and photographs collected by Walter while serving overseas with the United States armed forces. Included in the collection is a five-page mimeograph copy of a report prepared by for Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) by the United States Group Control Council dated 16 April 1945 summarizing the conditions at Buchenwald, and two black-and-white photographs of atrocities at Dachau.
