Lisa Fittko papers

The papers consist of three maps of Cerbère, France, and the Mediterranean coast and one envelope addressed to Lisa Fittko. The maps are as follows: (1) is a map of Port Vendres, printed on paper with inscriptions in ink, circa 1943. 27 3/4" x 29." (2) is a topographical map of Cerbere and the Mediterranean coast, printed on paper with inscriptions in ink, circa 1942-1943. Printed by the Institut Geographique National, Paris. Map is composed of 2 pieces glued together. 27" x 33." (3) is a topographical map of Cerbere and the Mediterranean coast, also printed by the Institut Geographique. It is composed of 4 pieces glued together. 26" x 60." The three maps were given to Lisa Fittko by her friend, Honoré Pratts, who was a pilot, or coastal patrol chief, of the village of Port-Vendres, France. Pratts was employed by the Germans to oversee the coastal waters of Port-Vendres. However, he was also the area chief of the French Resistance. He gave these maps to Fittko for her use. The envelope from the Centre Américain de Secours is addressed to Lisa Fittko. It once contained the torn piece of paper which matched the paper that refugees would present to the Fittkos when contacting the Fittkos in Banyuls-sur-Mer, France.
