Carel Sternberg identification card

Carel Sternberg was a Czech law student in France when the Germans took over the country. He fled Paris on a bicycle just ahead of the German Army. He was already a part of the International Relief Association when he partnered with Varian Fry and became a central player in the Marseille, France, operation of the Emergency Rescue Committee. Carel Sternberg continued a life-long association with what was to become the International Rescue and Relief Committee. The"Carte d' Identité" (identification card) was issued to Karel (or Carel) Sternberg donor, a Czech law student, in December 1938. Sternberg was in France when the Germans took over the country, and he worked closely with Varian Fry and the Emergency Rescue Committee in Marseille, France.
