David family papers
Copyright Holder: Ms. Lili Brody-Carmosino The David family papers include a pre-World War II photograph of Lili Brody-Carmosino with her brother Morris and cousin Annutza in Iaşi, Romania; a photograph of Lili planting seeds at the Beth Bialik displaced persons camp in Salzburg, Austria; an identification card for Adela David issued by the AJDC; and a photograph of Lili, Morris, and Ben David in Toronto. Lili Brody-Carmosino (1938- ) was born in Iaşi, Romania to tailor Ben David and his wife Adela and had a brother named Morris. Iaşi was bombed during World War II, and her family fled to Bucharest, were arrested, escaped to Budapest, were arrested again, and escaped to Salzburg where they survived the rest of the war. After the war, they spent some time at the Beth Bialik displaced persons camp and in Toronto before immigrating to the United States in 1959.
