Murray Bucher collection
Copyright Holder: Mr. Jay Levine Photograph album titled "Buchenwald/or a Glance at German 'Kultur'" by Murray Bucher (donor's uncle), creator of the album and a member of the United States Army Air Force, in 1945. Album was created in a blank book notebook, originally from Russia, and contains photographs taken after the liberation of the Buchenwald concentration camp near Weimar, Germany. Album contains clipped newspaper articles about the camp, all in English, as well as photographs that depict American forces delousing former victims, remains of victims who did not survive, group photographs of child survivors, Jewish services being held at the camp, and German civilians forced to bury victims. Also includes a news clipping from an American newspaper, describing the aftermath of the Gardelegen atrocity. Dwight D. Eisenhower's form letter sent to American troops prior to D-Day is included, with the added salutation "To Murray."
