Morck and Mayer families papers

Anneliese (Anne) Morck (later Martin, 1920-2009) was born on October 4, 1920 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany to Hugo Morck (1875-1960) and Alice (nee Mayer, 1891-1985) Morck and had one brother, Heinz (later Harry) Morck (1922-2007). Alice was born in Strasbourg, France to Ludwig (1856-1909) and Jenny (nee Schloessinger, 1864-1949) Mayer and had one brother, Max (1890-1960). Hugo and Alice married in 1919 and Hugo owned a real estate business. Anne was a German National Swim Team member and qualified for the 1936 Olympic Games. In the summer of 1938, Hugo was arrested by the Gestapo and sent to Sachsenhausen concentration camp. He remained imprisoned for several months before his release. After he returned to his family, Hugo and Heinz immigrated to London. After a brief arrest, Alice and Anne left Frankfurt in 1939 for England to reunite with their family. Hugo, Alice, Anne, and Heinz immigrated to the United States in March 1939 aboard the SS President Harding. Heinz enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He married Barbara Barrington on October 28, 1948 and had three daughters. Anne married Martin Seckbach (later Leon S. Martin, 1920-1984) in 1948 in New York and they have two children. Martin was born in Germany to Berthold Seckbach and Alice Simon and immigrated to the United States in December 1946 aboard the SS Aquitania. The Morck and Mayer families papers include documents relating to the prewar life and immigration of Anneliese Morck (later Anne Martin) and the extended Morck and Mayer families from Frankfurt am Main and Heidelberg, Germany. Identification and immigration documents relating to Hugo, Alice, Anne, and Heinz Morck include German passports, certificates of registration for the United Kingdom, certificates of naturalization for the United States, affidavits, visa documentation, packing lists, and passenger booklets for the SS President Harding. Identification and immigration documents relating to Ludwig and Jenny Mayer include a German passport, identification and immigration cards, copies of the marriage certificate, and affidavits.
