Ernst Graf papers
The collection documents the experiences of Ernst Graf, originally of Berlin, Germany, including his immigration to the United States in 1938, his training at Camp Ritchie, and service with the United States Army during World War II. Included are passports; birth, death, and marriage certificates, military records, and restitution paperwork. Ernst Graf (1905-1966) was born in Berlin, Germany on November 12, 1905 to Joachim and Maria Graf. He married Dorothea Reichenthal (b. 1911) in 1933. In summer 1938 they immigrated to the United States via the Netherlands. He became an American citizen and trained at Camp Ritchie (later Fort Ritchie) in Maryland. He served overseas in the US Army in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany and interrogated enemy prisoners. In 1964 Ernst married Ruth Lipow (1915-2015), who immigrated to the United States from Berlin in 1939.
