Copyright Holder: Naczelna Dyrekcja Archiwów Państwowych This collection contains a selection of 507 cases of personal files of Jewish prisoners, who were sentenced for various “crimes” committed during the occupation, and were imprisoned in the prison in Sieradz. Typical reasons for sentencing Jews to prison were: illegally crossing the country border, illegal trade and craft manufacture, illegal slaughter, hiding goods, smuggling into the ghetto, trading foreign currency, and other crimes of economic character, leaving their whereabouts, bribery, falsification of documents, theft, receiving of stolen goods, and beggary. The files contain the following personal data: first and last name, date and place of birth, occupation, address, names and whereabouts of the next of kin, characteristic features of the defendant. The entire original record group, Sygnatura 200 consists of approximately 12,800 files.
