Consists of eight photographs taken by Royal Canadian Air Force photographer Stan Brocklebank at the concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen in spring 1945. The photographs show various buildings in the camp as well as both filled in and open mass graves.

Bergen-Belsen machzor

Archief

Consists of a machzor (Rosh Hashanah prayer book), which was discovered by Sergeant John Waholek outside the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp immediately after the camp was liberated in April 1945. The machzor was published in Warsaw, Poland, in 1940. Sergeant Waholek, a member of the American Army, was sent to Bergen-Belsen to deliver supplies to the British forces that liberated the camp.

Bergen-Belsen barracks photographs

Archief

Consists of six photographs of the burning of a barracks in post-liberation Bergen-Belsen. The barracks were burned to help stop the spread of disease. Also contains a group portrait of the staff of an ambulance train which took survivors to hospitals in Sweden.

The collection is comprised of a small album of spiral bound photographs and loose photographs which document the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp following liberation. The black and white photographs are dated April 1945, and depict scenes around the camp, Allied troops, victims and survivors, and a British Rabbi talking with a captain. Some photos are captioned on the verso.
