Arnhem, Amsterdam's godchild. Lack of transport is the greatest problem.
Arnhem, Amsterdam's godchild. Lack of transport is the greatest problem. Boats arrive at Rotterdam with material from the United States and the countries that want tot help. But the Germans blew up the Rhine bridges: the boats cannot reach Arnhem. There are not enough trucks because up to this moment the Allied Armies could not offer as many as were wanted. The members of the Emergency Help Committee are resourceful. The tanks that the Germans left after their defeat are used as tractors; spare parts are used to replace worn out parts in old motorcars. Slowly the transport problem is solved.
