' An `Underseas Warrior` Gets Off Some Rescue Work At Sea. Not all of the work of the Pacific Fleet's submarines is destructive. At this stage in the war against Japan, when Uncle Sam is sending his airmen over the enemy mainland in steady streams of power and might, the subs have a new job to do. They roam the hostile waters between U.S. held forward areas and the Japanese coast, and working with the greatest of skill, quietly snatch from the sea airmen who have been forced to bail out or ditch their planes, and return them to safety. Here, barefooted members of the sub's crew get a foothold on the slippery deck to assist the crew of a Navy PBY (Flying Boat) in the rubber life raft alongside the sub. '
