Three martyred U.S. airmen exhumed for identifications.
Three martyred U.S. airmen exhumed for identifications. Three German civilians, known members of the Nazi Party, dig up the caskets containing the bodies of three American airmen in Lochtum, approximately 32 miles northwest of Nordhausen, Germany. Liberated Polish slave workers testified that the Americans were captured after their plane had crashed in May, 1944. They were marched through the streets, stoned by the townspeople and then were shot.
