Nazis murder 21 French civilians in reprisal for the death of two German soldiers in Tavaux. This picture was taken in the village of Tavaux, in Eastern France near the Belgian border, where the Nazis murdered 21 civilians in revenge for the deaths of two German soldiers killed in a street battle with men of the French forces of the Interior. Although the main body of the Nazis forces had previously abandoned the little town, the Germans returned to visit their revenge on old man and woman, mothers and children. An 80-year-old woman was one of the victims and German soldiers forced five French children to watch while their mother was burned alive. Bereaved citizans of Tevaus\x fill the town's tiny chapel at funeral services for some of the 21 victims of Nazi brutality.Blankets of flowers cover the coffins, which rest beneath Ticolor streamers.
