Stockpile. French soldiers try embarkation for attack. Soldiers of the French Army clamber up landing nets to board an American transport in maneuvers off the North African Coast. More than 300,000 French troops, anxious to liberate their homeland from German oppressors, have been equipped by the U.S. with thousands of tons of material including tanks, artillery, machine guns and other modern weapons (November 1943). Half these French troops, commanded by General Henri Honore Giraud, Commander in Chief of the French forces, are veterans of the 1939-40 fighting in France.
