Captured "flying bombs" base. This view shows some of the damage caused by Allied aircraft to miscellaneous concrete buildings on an unfinished "flying bomb" projection site captured by American troops on the Cherbourg Peninsula. In spite of heavy camouflage, craters were found all over the site, although little damage was done to the main heavily concreted buildings, most of the installation being underground. The site is now used as a forward command post by U.S. troops.
