Captured "flying bombs" base. This view of a section of an unfinished "flying bomb" projection site captured by U.S. troops on the Cherbourg Peninsula looks toward the control building from a sunken curved road which runs away from the ramp. In spite of heavily camouflage, craters from bombs dropped by Allied planes were found all over the site, though little damage was done to the main, heavily concreted building, most of the installations being underground. The site is now used as a forward command post by American troops.
