How women do men's war jobs. Building Plane Propeller Parts.

How women do men's war jobs. Building Plane Propeller Parts. Girl war workers in the plant of a company which manufactures airplane propellers in the Eastern U.S. state of New Yersey have replaced a like number of men who are now in the U.S. armed forces. The work they are doing on the "splitgears" of propellers is a type which requires patience, care and thoroughness. Before America entered the war there were few women employed in the airplane industry, by two years later the industry was employing 475,000 women, or nearly 35 per cent of its personnel. In one factory which doubled its output in 12 months women replaced nearly one half of the male workers during that period, indicating how quickly the women responded to training of many kinds required for the replacement process.
