U.S. ''BABY FLAT-TOP'' CITED FOR SUBMARINE SINKINGS. Pilots aboard the U.S. Navy escort aircraft carrier Card-work on serial navigation problems before taking off on a hunt for German submarines in the Atlantic. The Card, one of a fleet of small U.S. aircraft carriers converted from merchant hulls and assigned to anti-submarine patrol, recently received a Presidential Unit Citation. The carrier, her air squadrons and three accompanying destroyers were credited with destroying more enemy submarines than any other combination in naval history. In the six-months period ending Oct. 30, 1943, Allied forces destroyed more than 150 enemy submarines.
