Bremen submarine shipyard bombed.
Bremen submarine shipyard bombed. A bomb blew off the bow section of this nearly completed submarine in the ways of the Deshimag submarine shpyard at Bremen, Germany, during a raid by Allied planes March 14, 1945. The torpedo tubes can be seen in this picture. This second largest submarine shpyard in Germany produced one submarine every two and a half weeks. To minimize the effect of Allied bombings, the submarines were contructed in eight sections in various parts of Germany. The completed sections were brought to this yard where 18,000 workers assembled them. Bremen was captured by Allied ground forces April 28, 1945
