American artists report the war exhibit in London. Captain Herbert Merillat, Public Relations Office, United States MArine Corps; Miss E.M. Twining, Office of War Information; Brigadier General Frank A. Allen, Jr,. Chief, Public Relations Division, SHAEF, and Sir Kenneth Clark, director of the National Gallery in London, are shown at the opening of the exhibit "American Artists Report the War" in London September 29, 1944. Seventy oils, watercolors and drawings by men attached to the .S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps, covering most phases of the war from preliminary training to action in the jungles, the desert and the Far North, comprised this first comprehensive exhibition in Great Britain of war paintings by American artists.
