Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1. Private William E.

2 juli 1945

Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1. Private William E. Taylor, formerly with The New York Herald Tribune, edits the foreign news reaching the "Stars and Stripes"office in London. The foreign desk, over which flowed the daily battle stories of the large news agencies plus thousands of words on international matters from the leading capitals of the wold and the Pacific, is considered the most important function of "Stars and Stripes". Up to "V-E Day", Taylor wrote the daily Western Front story, taking care to mention the exploits of individual units, sometimes down to companies, a feature applauded by men following the activities of their own outfits. "Stars and Stripes"reporters concentrated on filing feature combat stories, all o f which passed through the main news desk and were handled by the managing editor.
