Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1.
Stars and Stripes, G.I. Morale Booster No. 1. Sergeant Andy Watts, formerly with United Press in Florida, edits copy for the "B-Bag"column, which contains letter to the editors. No matter how good his assignment, a soldier is always complaining. He considers it the one privilage left hin when he gave up the status of a civilian for the reregimentation of the Army. "B-Bag"was originated for the purpose of letting the GI sound off beyond the confines of his bunk and to give his constructive criticism a real airing. The title was derived from the time-honored Army rejoinder to a griping soldier: "Blow it out your B-Bag". Through this column, servicemen - and women - argue everything from Army regulations to planning for peace - and get results. For instance, when nurses and medics complained of too much spit and polish at the sacrifice of attention to patients in United Kingdom hospitals, high brass began to investigate.
