U.S. civilian airline officials reach Paris on survey trip. Officials of Trans World Airline of Transcontinental Western Air arrive at Orly airfield near Paris at the end of September 1945, on a preliminary survey flight for the establishment of a regular civilian air service. They travelled in a C-54 transport plane, the first U.S. civilian plane to reach Orly airfield on such a mission. The officials are visiting bases to ascertain facilities available or to be set up. Left to right are: Waldon G. Golien, supervisor of operations, Atlantic Division of TWA; Alvin D. Niemeyer, civil aeronautic authority, who flew as an observer, and Harold F. Blackburn, director of Atlantic Region of TWA.
