Allies liberate anti-fascists in Italy.
september 1943
Allies liberate anti-fascists in Italy. Anti-fascists of various nationalities, freed from a concentration camp in Southern Italy by advancing Allied troops, receive food rations at a British Eighth Army field kitchen. They were among 1500 Italians, Germans, Poles, Yugoslavs, French, Czechoslovakians and others who were interned in a barbed wire enclosure until their release by the Allies after the Germans had been driven from the area.
