America at war. U.S. soldiers operate railroad in Iran to speed war goods to Russia. A 100-ton crane lowers the body of a Diesel locomotive on its wheels at a Gulf of Persia port from which it will haul American war supplies destined for Russia. On the wheels, the locomotive is stripped of its crating and U.S. Army maintenance men give the engine its finishing touches, American locomotives on the 600-mile U.S. operated railroad from the Persian Gulf to Teheran, capital of Iran, transport thousands of tons of war material used by Russia.
