General Eisenhower given freedom of City of London. U.S. General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander (right, in carriage), rides through London streets, while cheering crowds welcome his arrival to the city. General Eisenhower and Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Tedder (left, in carriage) are on their way to the Guildhall, where General Eisenhower was honored with the Freedom of the City of London and awarded the traditional sword which accompanies the honor. He was the fifth American to receive Freedom of the City. After the ceremony, the Supreme Commander was guest of honor at the Mansion House at a luncheon given by the Lord Mayor and attended by high officials, including British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
