General Eisenhower receives Freedom of City of London. U.S. General of the Army Dwight D. Eisenhower, Supreme Allied Commander, shakes hands with London's Lord Mayor, at the Guildhall after receiving the traditional Freedom of the City of London as part of the ceremony welcoming him to the city. He was awarded the sword which accompanies the honor. Preceding the ceremony, General Eisenhower drove through London streets in an open carriage and was enthusiastically welcomed.
