The first train under Dutch control to run in Java since the Japanese surrender leaves Tangerang for Batavia. The carriages and engine were left at Tangerang by withdrawing Indonesian forces, when Tangerang was occupied by men of the Royal Netherlands Indies Army. Many parts of the engine were missing when it was recovered, but wor was carried out day and night until it was repaired. The train was then handed to the Dutch railway officials from Batavia, and driven there on June 9, 1946. NI 723
