Auschwitz manuscript by unknown author - a fake?
Contends that a manuscript written in Yiddish, in the form of a chronicle, allegedly found in 1952 at Auschwitz and published in Warsaw in 1954 in "Bleter far Geszichte" (in Yiddish) and in the "Biuletyn Zydowskiego Instytutu Historycznego" (in Polish) is a forgery, fabricated by communists. The account was subsequently translated and published in German and in Hebrew. It purports to relate the fate of Rabbi Moshe Friedman of Boyan-Cracow (1881-1943). Soifer, pointing to errors and inconsistencies between the Yiddish, Polish, and German versions, and having personal knowledge of the rabbi's life and fate, shows the manuscript to be a forgery.
