Karl Höcker (1911-2000) was born in Engershausen, Germany, on December 11, 1911, as the youngest of six children. His father, Heinrich Höcker, was a construction worker and was killed in World War I. His mother, Louise Höcker (nee Unger) struggled to support the family. Höcker worked as an assistant cashier and office worker at banks in Lubbecke.
