U.S. attack on Misburg Oil Refinery. Smoke and flame belch upwards from the Misburg oil refinery near Hanover, Germany during an attack by B-24 Liberators of the Eighth U.S. Air Force, June 20, 1944. Other targets of U.S. raiders on the same day, when they struck the heaviest blow of the war against German oil production, were other synthetic oil plants at Hamburg, Magdeburg and Ostermoor.
