University of Siena reopens.
University of Siena reopens. Crowds of civilians watch the procession enter the university of Siena, Italy, during reopening ceremonies November 26, 1944, as the 704th academic year began. Before the liberation of Siena by Allied troops in July, 1944, there were only about 300 students in attendance. Today, with no political restrictions, the university has nearly 700 enrolled.
