U.,S. Army technicians assemble motor vehicles at plant in New Guinea. U.S. soldiers add parts to the front and rear axles of a two and ha half-ton Army truck rolling along the tracks of an assembly line at a U.S. Army ordnance base on the Southwest Pacific Island of New Guinea. At top right, another soldier lowers an axle to the track. From this point, the axles pass along to other groups of soldier technicians who supply additional parts until, at the end of the line, a complete Army motor vehicle stands assembled ready to go into service. Parts are skipped from war plants in the U.S. to the base which is located on territory wrested from the Japanese. NI 9264
