U.S. Army technisians assemble. Motor Verhicles at Plant in New Guinea. Two U.S. soldiers (right) guide the steel dump body of a two and a half-ton Army truck as a crane lowers it to the chassis which has just emerged from the field assembly line at a U.S. Army ordance base on the Southwest Pacific Island of New Guinea. Both trucks shown were put together at the base from parts shipped from wat plants in the U.S. More than 5,500 motor vehicles have been assembled at this plant which stands on jungle territory wrested from the Japanese.
