The rise and fall of the Nazi State. Part III: Annexation becomes military attack.

The rise and fall of the Nazi State. Part III: Annexation becomes military attack. German troops disembark in Norway - German soldiers disembark on the shores of Norway which, under the guise of "protection", Germany invaded on April 9, 1940. Norway used every means at her disposal to repel the German troops, but the invitation had been so secretly and cleverly prepared that Norwegian forces could not recover the ground lost during the initial surprise attack. In addition, Norwegian traiters under Vidkun Quisling, who later became the German puppet ruler of Norway, aided the Germans in the final conquest of their country. British and Norwegian troops fought a bitter but unsuccessful battle against the Germans and, although ardent patriot forces continued to harass the invaders, the occupation of Norway was completed in two months. In 1943, after an uprising against the German occupation authorities, the Nazis took over all civil functions and dissolved the Norwegian Army. Despite a heroic 24-hour defense, Germany occupied Denmark the same day they invaded Norway.
